Vision

An Outaouais where every person has the tools, knowledge and confidence to participate actively in social change.

Objectives

The objectives pursued by LabPop are:

  • To establish and operate a community training and popular education centre;
  • To develop and organize training, reflection, awareness-raising and research activities, and to produce related documentation;
  • To support and accompany community movement actors in their capacity to act (workers, citizens, organizations, etc.);
  • To enable and stimulate exchanges, reflection, analysis and knowledge among actors from different sectors in order to develop collective intelligence.
Founding values

Founding values

Respect for autonomy and capacity to act

LabPop welcomes groups and citizens in their entirety, with their rhythm, their ways of doing or being, and their similarities and differences.

Integrity and equity

LabPop demonstrates honesty, equity and responsibility in its choices and actions. Every member is entitled to fair, equal and reasonable treatment.

Creativity for social transformation

Through its role in social transformation, LabPop is always seeking innovative practices. It strives to develop original ways of naming, understanding and acting on the oppression experienced by target populations. It thus enables participants to learn differently, taking into account their knowledge, practices and experiences.

Solidarity, cooperation and collaboration

LabPop promotes the commitment of individuals, collaborative work and solidarity among groups. It initiates activities that lead to the co-construction of shared visions of solidarity and social justice to be promoted. It values participatory democracy where members, participants and partners have the opportunity to be involved in consultation and decision-making.

Territorial acknowledgement

We acknowledge that the lands on which we carry out our activities are part of the traditional territories of the First Peoples, notably the Anishinabeg Nation.
